ORTHODONTICS

WHAT IS ORTHODONTICS?

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on treating malocclusions (improper bites), occlusal irregularities, dental crowding, maxillofacial anomalies, and correcting the positioning of misaligned teeth.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

The primary aim of orthodontics is to restore proper bite function, improve aesthetics, and offer preventive benefits. Teeth aligned through treatment are less prone to decay, periodontal issues (related to gums and surrounding tooth structures), and strain on the chewing system.

WHO CAN UNDERGO ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

We provide orthodontic treatment for children from an early age as well as adult patients. For each case, after thorough diagnostics, we present an optimal treatment plan to the patient or their parents, explaining in detail the planned procedure, duration, and cost.

WHAT TYPES OF BRACES DO WE USE?

We utilise various orthodontic treatment techniques based on the most current knowledge. You’ll find options for treatment with removable appliances, fixed braces – including porcelain, crystal, and metal – and invisible aligners like Clear Aligner, Brightalign, etc.

WHAT DOES ORTHODONTIC DIAGNOSTICS INVOLVE?

To plan optimal treatment, we conduct the following diagnostic tests:

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD A CHILD HAVE AN ORTHODONTIC APPOINTMENT?

Every child should have an initial orthodontic consultation by the age of 6-7 years. Of course, if a child shows worrying signs of malocclusion at an earlier age, parents should consult with an orthodontist immediately (even at the age of 3).

Prevention and eliminating pathological habits are crucial. Contrary to popular belief, malocclusions are less often predisposed by genetic factors and more commonly influenced by external factors that can be controlled.

WHAT SYMPTOMS IN CHILDREN INDICATE THE NEED FOR AN ORTHODONTIC CONSULTATION?

Orthodontic treatment, especially in children, often requires interdisciplinary treatment and collaboration with an ENT specialist, speech therapist, and/or myotherapist.
