REMOVABLE ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE
POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
CLEANING
- Clean your appliance every time you remove it from your mouth using a separate toothbrush reserved only for the appliance. Use denture cleaning foam or liquid soap.
- Once a week, dissolve a denture cleaning tablet (e.g. Corega, Prokudent or Protefix) in a glass of water. Soak the appliance in the solution for 5–10 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with water.
- When you are not wearing the appliance, keep it in a ventilated plastic storage case.
EATING WHILE WEARING THE APPLIANCE
- Follow the instructions given individually by your orthodontist during your appointment at ODONTO.
FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENTS
- Regular follow-up visits are essential for successful treatment. Please attend appointments according to your orthodontist’s recommendations, usually every 3 weeks or 6–7 weeks.
- Please bring your toothbrush (brush your teeth before the appointment) and your removable appliance to every visit.
- You should also have a routine dental examination with your general dentist every 6 months.
WEARING INSTRUCTIONS
Successful treatment depends on wearing the appliance exactly as instructed by your orthodontist:
- 24 hours a day (removing it only for toothbrushing),
- 16 hours a day, or
- as individually prescribed.
For children, parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that the appliance is worn as instructed.
ACTIVATING THE APPLIANCE AT HOME
If your appliance has an expansion screw, parents or guardians should activate it according to the orthodontist’s instructions:
- every 7 days,
- every 10 days,
- every 14 days,
- upper appliance: ½ turn every day / lower appliance: ½ turn every 2 days,
- or as otherwise instructed by your orthodontist.
WARRANTY
- Removable orthodontic appliance: 3-month warranty
The warranty does not cover mechanical damage.
Repairs required after the warranty period will be charged according to the current price list.
