RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER PERIODONTAL TREATMENT
- Directly after the procedure, while the anaesthesia is still in effect, take a pain relief tablet. Do not use aspirin!
- Rinse the mouth 2-3 times daily with a chlorhexidine solution (e.g., Eludril) for 30 seconds for 2 weeks.
- Cool the operated area from the cheek intermittently for 2 days after the procedure.
- Soft diet for 2 weeks, avoid biting hard foods for 1 month.
- Do not perform routine oral hygiene in the treated area for 4 weeks – you can start cleaning teeth with a very soft brush (special brush for post-surgical care) 1 week after the procedure.
- Limit excessive facial expressions for 1 week.
- Avoid physical exertion for 3-4 days after the procedure.
- Do not smoke for 2 weeks after the procedure.
Swelling and bruising are expected after periodontal procedures. Post-operative bleeding from the gums may occur. Post-traumatic swelling peaks 24 to 28 hours after the procedure. Do not be alarmed by this.
CONTROL
- Mandatory control visit after 7-14 days as arranged with the doctor.
Regular control visits are recommended every 6 months, combined with professional teeth cleaning at ODONTO Clinic.
